All eyes are poised towards Manchester United’s first Premier League game back away at Tottenham Hotspur this evening.
But cast your eyes a week ahead, and United will be preparing for a FA Cup quarter-final away at Norwich City on Saturday 27th.
It is notable then, that the Canaries have suffered a triple injury blow for the fixture.
The Mail report captain Grant Hanley (18 appearances), Christoph Zimmerman (18 appearances) and Sam Byram (20 appearances) have all been ruled out for the rest of the season with various injuries.
The blow leaves Norwich’s defensive options stretched, as they embark on a run of four games in 13 days, while battling for their Premier League survival.
They can still call on highly rated young defenders Ben Godfrey and Max Aarons, but their prospects do not look good heading into a game against United next week.
Earlier this season United beat Norwich 3-1 at Carrow Road and 4-0 at Old Trafford.
Biggest test is over confidence
The game against Norwich is a cup tie, a one-off game, and anything can happen.
The biggest challenge for us will be if we lose focus and intensity, and if Solskjaer heavily rotates the line up in-between Premier League games against Sheffield United and Brighton.
First off we need to take care of business against Tottenham tonight, and then Sheffield United on Wednesday.
But don’t forget about the FA Cup, a competition which gives Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his first of two chances to end the restarted campaign with a trophy, with the final being held on August 1.
Hopefully we won’t have any more fresh injuries of our own heading into the quarter-final to balance it out.
