The 55 teams will be drawn into 10 qualifying groups: five groups of five teams (Groups A to E) and five groups of six teams (Groups F to J). The top two teams in each group will qualify for Euro 2020.

The teams have been seeded into seven pots based on their most recent UEFA ranking. England are in a special four-team pot with the other Nations League finalists.

The four Nations League finalists will be placed in the first position in Groups A to D which will have five teams. The teams in Pot 1 will be placed in the first position in Groups E to J.

The teams in Pot 2 will be drawn into the second position in each group, with the draw continuing in similar fashion for Pots 3, 4 and 5.

The teams in Pot 6 will be drawn into Groups F to J which contain six teams.

England are one of 12 countries who will be hosting matches at Euro 2020. To give those teams the best chance of qualifying, no more than two hosts can be drawn in the same qualifying group. The hosts are: Azerbaijan, Denmark, England, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Holland, Republic of Ireland, Romania, Russia, Scotland, Spain.
