Thomas Meunier signs for Borussia Dortmund on a four-year deal after Belgian defender turned down Man United, Chelsea and Spurs when his PSG contract expired

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Belgium right-back Thomas Meunier from Paris Saint-Germain on a four-year deal.
Meunier, 28, had been linked with Premier League clubs Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea but has joined Bundesliga giants Dortmund on a free transfer from the start of next season.
After posing with a Dortmund shirt, Meunier tweeted: ‘A great day has arrived! I have the immense honour to announce my engagement with Borussia Dortmund!

It brings to a close a successful four-year spell in France in which he won the Ligue 1 title three times as well as the French Cup and three French League Cups, playing 128 times.
The Ligue 1 season was curtailed amid the Covid-19 pandemic at the end of April with PSG declared champions after the final table was calculated on a points-per-game basis.
Meunier played against Dortmund in the first leg of PSG’s Champions League last-16 tie but was suspended for the second leg, which saw the French club advance 3-2 on aggregate.

Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc said: ‘Thomas Meunier is a player who has demonstrated his quality at the highest level in the Champions League and in the national team over a long period of time and will really benefit us with his experience.’
Meunier, who has played 40 games and scored seven goals for Belgium, links up with compatriots Axel Witsel and Thorgan Hazard at Signal Iduna Park.
He said: ‘Borussia Dortmund plays exactly the football that I want to play: exciting, authentic and natural. BVB is known for their enthusiastic fans and the atmosphere during the game with PSG at Signal Iduna Park really influenced my decision.
