Frank Lampard has hit out at Didier Deschamps and France’s medical team over their handling of N’Golo Kante.
Kante will miss Chelsea’s clash with Newcastle due to a groin problem as his injury issues continue, having also been sidelined this season due to knee, ankle and hamstring problems.
Lampard was clearly frustrated that Kante was kept on by France despite being injured, delaying the start of his rehab back at Chelsea.

Lampard was left frustrated after N’Golo Kante suffered a groin issue while away with France
Kante was ruled out of France’s first game during the international break against Ireland after hurting his groin in the warm-up.
But he was stayed with France for their second game against Turkey on Monday despite failing a fitness test the day before.
Lampard and Deschamps have been in frequent contact over their shared players and with striker Olivier Giroud starting just twice for Chelsea this season the France boss said: ‘Lampard asked me not to pick Kante at the last break.
‘If that’s still the way I’m going to call him later to tell him it would be nice if you play Olivier Giroud a little bit!’
Lampard said: ‘I know Didier Deschamps mentioned in jest a little bit about Olivier Giroud and that was obviously quite light-hearted and I get it.
‘But the Kante one was not a laughing matter. That probably could have been handled better for sure.
Deschamps decided to keep Kante with the squad rather than send him home to Chelsea
‘Our doctors were speaking and there were some times when things weren’t coming back to us when I would expect them to come back – that’s what I mean about communication.
‘It was quite clear he wasn’t fit to play. We would have wanted him back to work on him.’
Meanwhile, Reece James is in line to make his Premier League debut against Newcastle on Saturday.
James, 19, starred for Wigan in the Championship last season, so much so that Lampard tried to take him to Derby midway through the campaign and then insisted he would not be loaned out again this year when he took over at Stamford Bridge.
James has started against Grimsby in the Carabao Cup and Lille in the Champions League and is now set to be handed a first Premier League appearance.
