New youth signings begin training

Manchester United academy signings Joe Hugill, Logan Pye, and Radek Vitek have started training with the club.

United fought off competition from Arsenal and Tottenham to agree a £300,000 deal with Sunderland for striker Hugill, 16, and defender Pye, also 16, was previously at Sunderland as well.

Vitek, 16, has arrived from Sigma Olomouc and is the latest Eastern European goalkeeper to join United’s junior ranks after Ondrej Mastny, Matej Kovar and Alex Fojticek. Fojticek was released this month and Kovar is in line for a loan move next term.

United are also hopeful of announcing the additions of Marc Jurado, Alvaro Fernandez, and Isak Hansen-Aaroen before the start of next season.

The MEN understands United are awaiting international clearance for Jurado, Fernandez, and Hansen-Aaroen, who became Tromso’s youngest-ever player at the age of 15 years and 319 days earlier this month. A source said: “Hopefully they’ll be sorted soon and we can get them confirmed.”
