Soccer transfer news, rumors: Manchester United, Jadon Sancho near deal; Willian

The Premier League season is over, but transfer rumors were heating up for some of the biggest clubs in England on Monday. The summer transfer window is in full swing after the unique 2019-20 season that was halted for three months due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Premier League’s 2020-21 season is set to begin on Sept. 12, and teams are busy trying to retool their rosters before then.

Both Manchester United and Chelsea were making headlines on Monday. Here are some of the biggest rumors of the day.

Sancho likely joining Man United

The Red Devils appear to be on the doorstep for a deal to land Dortmund forward Jadon Sancho. The 20-year-old is confident he will be a Manchester United player by the end of the week, per a report from The Independent. Fabrizio Romano of Sky Sports adds that United is looking to give Sancho a deal that runs through the 2024-25 season. Sancho has been highly productive in his last two seasons at Dortmund. He scored 17 goals and notched 16 assists in 32 games this season in the Bundesliga and added another two goals and two assists in eight Champions League matches.

Willian going from Blues to Gunners?

Willian might be leaving Frank Lampard’s club. The winger rejected a new two-year contract and is now in talks with Arsenal, per The Guardian. Willian, 31, has been with Chelsea since the 2013-14 season and made 29 starts in the Premier League this season. Chelsea already has bolstered its attack by signing Timo Werner and the Blues are also reportedly interested in Kai Havertz. American Christian Pulisic has also broken out since play resumed in June, though he will be unavailable for Chelsea’s Champions League match vs. Bayern Munich this weekend.
