The Spanish midfielder made only three appearances for the La Liga champions last season as he played predominantly for Barcelona B.

But he did provide an assist on his first-team debut for the club back in December.

Puig came off the bench to set up his side’s fourth goal in a comfortable 4-1 win over Cultural Leonesa in the Copa del Rey.

The assist belied his age as he showed both composure and guile to lift the ball nonchalantly into the path of Denis Suarez, before the midfielder slotted the ball home.

It was only a glimpse into the creativity that lies at the feet of this La Masia product, but it was enough to get fans — and the club itself — excited about his future potential.
