Man City boss insists Arsenal sign star midfielder after Willian transfer
Pep Guardiola has urged Arsenal to go for Lyon’s prolific midfielder, Houssem Aouar in the transfer market.
Arsenal had a dip into the market to revitalized their squad that finished in eighth place in the Premier League. Although Mikel Arteta shoved away from the disappointment by winning the FA Cup, the Spaniard looks to make the most of the transfer business.
They already sealed former Chelsea winger, Willian whose contract ran out at the club. The 31-year-old joined David Luiz as his club and international teammate yet again after both won titles in Chelsea blue. Arsenal are also in the race for a defender. Lille’s Gabriel Magalhaes is an exciting prospect linked with the club and has reportedly agreed on a fee.
But the most concerning part Arteta should look at is the midfield region. A midfielder in his playing days, Mikel got the best out of Xhaka and Ceballos post-lockdown. The 22-year-old was involved in two out of three goals for the French side, ultimately proving crucial against the favorites. He also completed the most number of dribbles in the game. The midfielder has been sensational throughout. In the post-match interview, Guardiola cited his brilliance by terming him as ‘incredible’.
“Houssem Aouar is a very good player. He is incredible. We talk a lot about (Tanguy) Ndombele, but Aouar is also excellent. He’s always very calm with the ball at his feet, with excellent technical quality.”
Guardiola’s quote also means that he has driven enough quality to be a superstar on a much higher level. Catching the eyes of one of football’s greatest manager is not an easy task. This is also a huge boost to Arsenal. Their thrust to get a formidable player may just by quenched.

A technically gifted player, Aouar is also witty. He can read the game in seconds with a quick-fire decision that aids the team in the long run. The Frenchman is also a good dribbler. The fact that is doing in such a major competition and against tougher opposition makes him a cracker of a…
