The nightmare 15-day schedule that Spurs face at the start of the season
When the fixture schedule for the Carabao Cup was released last week, we covered the fact that Tottenham Hotspur could face an unprecedented level of fixture congestion at the start of the season.
It was already going to be quite challenging for the Lilywhites to navigate three rounds of Europa League qualification matches sandwiched between Premier League games.
However, with the third round of the League Cup (the round in which Spurs enter the competition) scheduled for September 22 and September 23 respectively, Tottenham’s problem has been exacerbated even further.
Sky Sports have revealed that if the Lilywhites progress till the third round of Europa League qualifying and the fourth round of the League Cup, they could be faced with two spells of two matches in 48 hours.
Here is the nightmare schedule that Spurs could be facing from September 17 to October 4:
Sep 17 – Europa League Q2
Sep 20 – Premier League
Sep 22 – Carabao Cup R3
Sep 24 – Europa League Q3
Sep 27 – Premier League
Sep 29 – Carabao Cup R4
Oct 1 – Europa League PO
Oct 4 – Premier League
However, Sky Sports also revealed that there is a possibility of the EFL rearranging the cup fixtures if the schedule gets overly congested for some teams.
Spurs Web Opinion

If we face a situation where we have an away game in eastern Europe less than 48 hours after playing a Premier League or a League Cup match, Jose will have no choice but to prioritise.
