The FA are making a number of changes to the FA Cup branding this season. The main one is a new competition logo (see below), but they’re also making some changes to how they use it.
As usual, the logo will go on a patch on the player sleeves for FA Cup games. But this time around it will also acknowledge the number of times your club has lifted the trophy. In Arsenal’s case, that’s a record 14.
The current winners of the competition will also get a special silver badge for the campaign. So Arsenal’s version will stand out against their opponents’ in 2020/21, both for having the highest number of any of them and also for the silver style.
The FA Cup will also use new typography, but I have to admit I’m less excited about that change.
None of this really makes much of a difference on the pitch, but it’s just a fun update for extra bragging rights. They already do the same thing in the Champions League, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the League Cup and Premier League follow suit soon.
