In a perhaps surprise move, Matt Doherty made a switch from Wolves to Tottenham over the weekend and it’s a decision that hasn’t seemingly gone down well with Nuno Espirito Santo, according to a report.

The Mirror have claimed that the Wolves boss’ mood hasn’t improved because of that deal and there are now concerns over whether he will put pen-to-paper on a new contract.

It is said that Nuno, 46, has 12 months left to run on his current deal and is stalling on signing a new three-year contract due to worries over his transfer funds.

It seems as though Wolves have received just £15 million for Doherty’s services and there’s no doubt Nuno would want to replace such a reliable player from within his starting XI.

These weeks ahead will determine whether these are testing times ahead for the Midlands side or they will just simply let their actions on the field of play do the talking because they have been outstanding for two seasons now.

Nuno will have to search the market pretty well to replace Doherty because he provided him with real quality on that right-hand side, especially from an attacking sense.

  3. Matt Doherty

From the crucial goals he would score – such as the one against Man City – to the partnership he built with Adama Traore, Spurs and Mourinho now have a top player on their hands.

Plenty of days still remain in this delayed summer transfer window and you would expect both Spurs and Wolves to be pretty busy at both ends.
