Arsenal have enjoyed a busy summer as Mikel Arteta bids to turn his new squad around.
Gabriel Magalhaes is the eye-catching recruit with the Brazilian centre-back joining from Lille in a £27m deal. He joins fellow countryman Willian who arrived on a free and Dani Ceballos who re-joins from Real Madrid on a season-long loan. The Gunners aren’t planning on stopping there though.
Arteta remains keen on more reinforcements with Houssem Aouar of Lyon his top choice. Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey is another he is keen on with both deals requiring funds to be raised by sales of current first-team players. Hector Bellerin is most likely to depart with Paris Saint-Germain keenest while Lucas Torreira and Sokratis are edging closer to moves to Serie A with Napoli and Fiorentina leading the race. Goalkeeper Emi Martinez has been offered terms to stay but could leave for Aston Villa. We’ll have all the latest throughout the day:
AOUAR TELLS LYON HE WANTS TO LEAVE
Some positive news for Arsenal and their interest in Houssem Aouar.
The French midfielder has apparently told Lyon that he wants to leave this summer.
That’s according to L’Equipe.
Lyon are adamant he won’t leave for less than £50m, a figure that is out of the Gunners range at present.
However, sales of the likes of Hector Bellerin, Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira could give Mikel Arteta the funds he needs to go and get one of his No 1 targets.
This one is going to run and run.
