Some Arsenal fans react to rumour they could make £21m loss on Wenger signing –

Arsenal fans on Twitter have offered their thoughts on Lazio being offered the chance to sign Shkodran Mustafi.

Italian outlet La Lazio Sia Monoi have claimed that Mustafi, who is out of contract next summer, is available for £13.7 million as Mikel Arteta aims to raise funds to finalise his squad.

If Arsenal were to sell him for the above fee then they would lose upwards of £21 million on the centre-back because in 2016 they paid £35 million for his services [BBC Sport].

A selection of Arsenal fans have made it clear that they need the money so they are happy to part ways with the German World Cup winner, whilst others believe he is better than certain individuals they already have in their squad.

Others have asked why the club manages to lose so much money from their signings, but that’s something that is clearly out of Arteta’s hands.

Whilst FA Cup trophies have continued to be added to the Emirates Stadium cabinet in recent years, all in all, the club has continued to stagnate ever since Arsene Wenger stood up from his chair and left the room.

Therefore, those players who have been part of that journey, and Mustafi has been at the club for four years now, haven’t exactly seen their stock rise.

That could change with the current crop in the near future if Arteta gets his way, but it’s a case of biting the bullet with this one for Arsenal.

In truth, given that Mustafi’s contract expires next summer if they can add £10 million-plus to their summer transfer kitty with his sale then at least it is something towards the dream signings the Arsenal faithful want.

Mustafi is yet to feature this season for Arsenal, and even though he missed the FA Cup final through injury, he did play a part in their run to Wembley.

Regardless of whether Mustafi leaves or not, players do need to depart Arsenal because they have a lot of senior players on their books, including in the defensive areas.
