Would you rather have a Gunner or a Blade? If I’m choosing between cannon and sword, a lot depends on the situation. But if I’m choosing between Arsenal and Sheffield United, it’s an easy choice.
It’s desperate times for Sheffield, who’ve yet to win a match or even score a goal in the Premier League this season. Arsenal are going to see the best the that Blades have to offer, and new signing Rhian Brewster may feature for the visitors (although it may also be too soon since his move for him to play). Sheffield are a tough foe for Arsenal because they are comfortable playing without possession, sitting deep, and looking for the counter. The Gunners have shown time and again over the past few seasons an inability to break teams down / put away lesser foes.
As I wrote in the preview and will say until I’m blue in the face, how Arsenal do in matches like these — ones they “should” win — will do more to determine their table finish this season then matches against the top sides. The Gunners need to rack up as many points as possible from “lesser” teams, especially at the Emirates.
As far as we know, there are no new injuries for Arsenal. Jack O’Connell (knee), Lys Mousset (ankle), and Simon Moore (finger) are all out for Chris Wilder’s side.
Make sure you check out Nathan’s Predicted XI and our Preview.
Arsenal – Leno, Bellerin, David Luiz, Gabriel, Tierney, Ceballos, Elneny, Saka, Willian, Nketiah, Aubameyang
Sheffield – Ramsdale, Basham, Egan, Robinson, Baldock, Stevens, Lundstram, Berge, Osborn, McGoldrick, Burke
One change for United.
Ethan Ampadu is replaced by John Egan who is handed the captain’s armband.
