Leeds United star Gotts wanted by EFL trio ahead of 16 October

Huddersfield Town, Swindon Town and Doncaster Rovers have held talks with Leeds United over signing versatile midfielder Robbie Gotts, Football Insider can reveal.

The Yorkshire-born rising star, 20, is in demand during the domestic window that shuts on 16 October.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider that Championship outfit Huddersfield and League One duo Swindon and Doncaster have all registered their interest in taking Gotts for the rest of the season.

It had appeared likely that the youngster would link up last month with the Terriers’ new manager Carlos Corberan.

But that was put on hold while Leeds continued their squad strengthening that culminated in the deadline-day signing of winger Raphinha.

United must now decide whether it is best for Gotts’ development to spend the season away from Elland Road in order to get senior match experience.

The club and the player also have to choose between his three suitors and where the youngster is likely to get the most game time.

Huddersfield would appear a natural destination as Spaniard Corberan quit Elland Road earlier in the summer to take over at the John Smith’s Stadium following the sacking of Danny Cowley.

But Swindon and Doncaster could offer more playing opportunities in a lower tier.

Gotts is predominantly a central midfielder but can also play at full-back, including right-back.

He has made three senior appearances for Leeds, two of which came last season and the third in last month’s EFL Cup defeat to Hull.

Gotts came off the bench after 78 minutes of normal playing time, when he replaced Mateusz Bogusz as Bielsa fielded a team of fringe and youthful players.

In other news, there has been a big new Ryan Kent development after Leeds United bid.
