Spurs receive potential boost amid interest in Swansea’s Joe Rodon – The Boot

Swansea City are interested in Manchester City youngster Joel Latibeaudiere, according to BBC Sport, and that may perhaps prove to be good news for Tottenham Hotspur.

As noted by BBC Sport, Spurs are interested in Swans centre-back Joe Rodon. It is claimed that Steve Cooper’s men are expecting a bid for the Wales international before the window closes.

And it appears that Swansea are potentially bracing themselves for Rodon’s possible departure. According to BBC Sport, they want Latibeaudiere on a free transfer.

Admittedly, the report does claim that Swansea want a new defender regardless of what happens with Rodon. But Tottenham will surely take encouragement from the reported interest.

The Daily Mail reported last week that Spurs had bid £7 million for Rodon. However, the Championship side want £18 million for the 22-year-old.

Based on BBC’s report, that stance will not change dramatically even if Latibeaudiere arrives. But it may give Spurs hope that a compromise could become more likely.

Swansea are being sensible and making plans that could be incredibly useful, particularly if Rodon leaves.

And the reports should surely act as a catalyst for Tottenham stepping up their efforts to land their target.

The door has perhaps opened just a little bit more for Jose Mourinho.
