‘Wow this is big’, ‘Should be our captain’ – Many Sheffield Wednesday fans
Sheffield Wednesday defender Dominic Iorfa has claimed he is raring to get back involved ahead of today’s Championship clash with Wycombe Wanderers, which has drawn an interesting reaction from many Owls fans.
The central defender has been missing since September due to a hamstring issue but has been back training this week and it was confirmed this morning that he is in the squad to face the Chairboys.
Speaking to club media yesterday, Iorfa provided an update on how he was feeling heading into the weekend.
He said: “Feels good (to be back in training). My first full week training with the boys so just good to be back.
“Obviously, done with all the running and the preparation so now I’m back with the boys. It feels good.”
Iorfa added: “When you’re not too far away and you’re watching in the stands, you’re just counting down really. So I’ve been counting down all week. It’s been about three or four weeks now, so it hasn’t been too long in the grand scheme of things but I’ve missed a few games and I’m raring to be back now.”
The 25-year-old’s return is a huge boost for Garry Monk’s side as they have a number of defensive injury problems recently, while both Joost van Aken and Tom Lees are suspended
After a solid start to the season, Wednesday have lost three games on the bounce and suffered a comprehensive 3-0 defeat at the hands of Yorkshire rivals Rotherham United in midweek.
With Wednesday bottom of the league and 10 points adrift of safety, the pressure is building on Monk and having one of his best defenders back is a huge boost.
Are these 10 facts about Hillsborough true or false?
Iorfa’s comments certainly appear to have caught the attention of Owls fans, many of whom took to Twitter to voice their thoughts.
