Jamie Vardy could be England’s Zinedine Zidane at the Euros
Zinédine Zidane always did things his way, to the extent his last game as a player involved scoring a Panenka penalty, headbutting Marco Materazzi and winning man of the match: all this in a World Cup final, of course.
There are very few footballers who stand entirely outside convention but Jamie Vardy is another. And could Vardy become England’s Zizou? Gareth Southgate raised an intriguing possibility after naming his squad for games against Ireland, Belgium and Iceland.
