Wolves’ US Burberry model who started playing football at 14


Nuno Espirito Santo’s reign at Wolves has benefitted the club, the fans, the city and, of course, himself. It’s also benefitted the international careers of an increasing number of his players.

Ten players in the past three and a bit years have earned a first call-up or a debut cap while playing under Nuno.

Nine of them either are or have been recognisable first-team players: Conor Coady (England), Jonny Castro Otto (Spain), Pedro Neto (Portugal), Matt Doherty (Ireland), Adama Traore (Spain), Diogo Jota (Portugal), Barry Douglas (Scotland), Helder Costa (Portugal) and Willy Boly (Ivory Coast).

The 10th has only played 13 minutes of first-team football in his fledgeling career. Yet this week, Owen Otasowie was called up to the senior USA squad, where he’ll join up with Chelsea’s Christian Pulisic, Juventus’ Weston McKennie and Barcelona’s Sergino Dest.
