While Chelsea’s season remains on hold during the international break, moves behind the scenes continue as the club looks to further bolster and consolidate Frank Lampard’s squad.
The club spent north of £200 million in the summer, adding high-level talent across the board to build a team they believe will be capable of challenging for the title.
However, work is still to be done in fine-tuning the squad.
With that in mind, we have an update on the latest contract talks for a Chelsea star who has started the season in excellent form, a potential January departure, and a confusing development regarding a reported young target.
Here is a round up of the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.
Inter Milan consider Giroud approach
Inter Milan are reportedly considering a January approach for Olivier Giroud. The Frenchman could leave Chelsea in the winter window in search of more regular playing time.
According to Calciomercato , Inter are readying a move for the striker, who has played just 33 minutes in the Premier League this season, falling behind Tammy Abraham and new signing Timo Werner in the striking pecking order.
Per the report, Antonio Conte would like to add a third striker to support Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.
They comprise the starting pair in his 3-5-2 formation, but he views Giroud as the ideal depth option.
Giroud, meanwhile, signed a one-year extension to his contract towards the end of last season to keep him at Stamford Bridge for another year.
However, as football.london reported earlier this week, with next summer’s Euros looming, the 34-year-old is considering his options as he looks to keep his place in the French national team.
Chelsea offer Zouma new contract
Frank Lampard is considering handing Kurt Zouma a new contract after the Frenchman has impressed during the opening weeks of the new season, per recent reports
It was claimed on the Here We Go Podcast that Lampard is keen to offer Zouma a new contract – as first reported by Le10 Sport in France.
The defender has just under three years remaining on his current deal, but Lampard has been wowed by his performances and is eager to lock down his long-term future.
Zouma was an inconsistent starter last season, rotating alongside Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, and Fikayo Tomori, but has formed an excellent partnership with Thiago Silva since the Brazilian arrived on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in the summer.
Zouma has played the full 90 minutes in all but one Premier League or Champions League game.
He has scored three goals and kept six clean sheets in 10 games. In the one league game he missed, Chelsea conceded three to West Bromwich Albion.
