With Virgil van Dijk and now Joe Gomez but expected to be sidelined through injury for several months, Liverpool have been heavily linked with several new centre-back options in the January transfer window.

A report from the Athletic suggested that RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano was “top of their wanted list” but with the Reds believed to use computer analytics themselves when it comes to player recruitment, a new Artificial Intelligence tool has come up with three ‘more suitable’ potential recruits for the reigning Premier League champions.

Ram Mylvaganam, the creator of Prozone which has revolutionised player recruitment, spoke to The Times, and he says Ai Abacus, a new artificial intelligence tool using analytics to predict future outcomes, has outlined three targets who are more suitable.

The article states:

While the processes are undoubtedly complicated, the metrics that prove most important are suitability and chemistry, and it is deemed that Upamecano “would have good chemistry with Klopp’s existing players yet modest suitability, tactics and system-wise.”

Instead, Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah is considered the ideal candidate, with Leicester’s Caglar Soyuncu and Sevilla’s Jules Kounde alternatives.
