‘Pure trash’, ‘Selfish’ – Many Charlton fans frustrated by one player in
Charlton Athletic were held to a 1-1 draw by Gillingham today and many Addicks supporters have been left frustrated by striker Omar Bogle.
Bogle started up top for the south London side from the start but produced a lacklustre display at Priestfield.
The 26-year-old didn’t manage a single shot in his 66 minutes on the pitch, with his biggest contribution winning a penalty before half-time that was missed by Conor Washington.
Bogle was involved in a disagreement with Washington over who should take the spot-kick, which it seems may have led to his teammate failing to find the net.
Gillingham were awarded a penalty of their own with less than 20 minutes to go and Jordan Graham made no mistake to give them the lead.
Substitute Chuks Aneke pulled Lee Bowyer’s men back level in the 82nd minute but they were unable to find a go-ahead goal, meaning their run of six League One wins in a row came to an end.
That has clearly frustrated the Valley faithful and they appear to have singled out Bogle for criticism, as a result of both his performance and the disagreement with Washington.

We can’t blame the ref for that result, IMO we weren’t good enough & had chances despite those poor decisions. Even with no recognised CB we controlled the game but had no one willing to run behind until the subs. Bogle looks a yard too slow, will be this years Parker/Hemed #cafc

This is just fabulous! Weekend ruined. Bowyer put the wrong plyrs in the starting lineup! Bogle is pure trash! Steep learning curve for Bowyer today! #cafc

Frustrating. Didn’t create enough and too slow through midfield. Aneke looked good again… Bogle didn’t #cafc

Smyth was excellent when he came on, him and aneke have to start, Bogle is not affective enough

Selfish of Bogle to do that, puts Washington off before the kicks taken #cafc
