Liverpool remain firmly linked with a move for Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe and the latest reports from the continent are likely to come as a boost to Anfield chiefs.
The young French striker was at his dazzling best against Istanbul Basaksehir on Wednesday night, scoring twice and assisting Neymar during a sensational Champions League performance.
The Reds know it will take a sensational bid to dislodge Mbappe from Parc des Princes – and they have also reportedly sounded out another attacking target.
Meanwhile, Jurgen Klopp continues to search the market for a centre-back to cover injured duo Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez – though Liverpool’s hopes of landing a fresh recruit in January depend on certain conditions.
Here is Thursday’s Liverpool transfer round-up.
Mbappe interest is “real”
Liverpool’s pursuit of Kylian Mbappe is “real” and they are continuing to battle Real Madrid for the World Cup winner’s signature, according to Spanish outlet Sport .
And while Paris Saint-Germain chiefs remain hopeful Mbappe will extend his stay in the French capital by signing a new deal, he is believed to have doubts over the club’s ambition.
Mbappe’s current contract expires in just over 18 months’ time.
The report adds Liverpool may not be able to match PSG’s financial power, but they may be able to tempt the Frenchman to Anfield by offering him the most attractive project.
