- Boyhood club Independiente del Valle will have the final say on the mooted move
- Caicedo is thought to have preferred United over Premier League rivals Chelsea
- RB Leipzig and AC Milan were also reportedly interested in the Ecuador prodigy
Ecuador international Moises Caicedo is keen to complete a move to Manchester United for £4.5million plus add ons, according to reports.
The 19-year-old has been tipped as the first arrival at Old Trafford once the January transfer window opens after United saw off interest from RB Leipzig and AC Milan.
Chelsea have stepped up their interest and Newcastle and Brighton are also in the hunt to bring the midfielder to the Premier League, but Ecuadorian club Independiente del Valle will have the final say on Caicedo’s potential switch.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said: ‘Still the same situation about Moises Caicedo.
‘Man United are in contact with his agents and “control” the situation – the player would love to join [them] and his contract won’t be a problem. Now it’s up to the club. It’s not a done deal.’
Caicedo attracted attention during four World Cup qualifiers with Ecuador, scoring his first international goal in a 4-2 win over Uruguay in October.
The box-to-box midfielder is a huge admirer of Paul Pogba and seems certain to leave the club where he has been since the age of 13.
United are rumoured to be ready to pay at least £4.5million for the up-and-coming midfielder
Independiente appeared to confirm that a deal was on the brink of being completed earlier this week.
‘We have received an offer from a European club for Moises Caicedo,’ revealed the club’s manager, Santiago Morales.
‘We are negotiating the proposal. It is most likely that he will not be in our team in 2021. Due to the proposal we’ve received, it is very difficult to keep him.’
The teenager is the first ever player born in the 21st century to score in a CONMEBOL World Cup qualifier.
