Lionel Messi‘s transfer saga has taken another turn after it was reported that he could end up staying at Barcelona for another two years before making a move to the United States – and that he has already put down roots in Miami.
Messi, whose contract is up next summer, came close to ending his iconic 19-year spell with the Catalan giants in the most recent transfer window after he told the club via burofax that he wanted to leave.
The 33-year-old Argentinian ended up staying due to the threat of a long legal battle but he continues to be linked with the exit at the Nou Camp – and while he’s not short of options on where he could go next, his reported purchase of a luxury £7.25million apartment suggests his mind is already made up.

However, according to Cadena SER, Messi is set to scrap plans of a Barca exit for now and instead extend his stay until 2023 before picking up sticks and moving to Miami to retire there.

The high-rise building, which boasts ocean-front living and a separate elevator for your car, was opened in 2014 and is just a 25-minute drive from the Inter Miami Stadium.
The report would support claims that Messi is ready to see out his career with David Beckham’s Inter Miami, with the Argentine recently admitting that a move to the USA is something that interests him.
