There’s no guarantee that he’ll leave the Posh in the current window, though, given that he’s contracted until the end of next season and co-owner Darragh MacAnthony is demanding a sizeable transfer fee [Scottish Sun].

It’s previously been suggested that the 24-year-old’s current club values him at £2m [Grimsby Live] and his quality was on show on Saturday at the Weston Homes Stadium.

Jonson Clarke-Harris put the hosts in front after just seven minutes and superb Dembele assists in either half ensured three points had been secured by the 65th minute.

On the half-hour mark, the Gers target tracked back and won the ball in midfield. He then turned and drove towards the Dons defence before sliding a perfectly-weighted through ball to Sammie Szmodics, who rounded the keeper and finished.

With 25 minutes remaining, he produced yet more magic, showing dazzling feet on the left edge of the box before drilling a ball across the face of the goal that was turned in by Szmodics.

If a Rangers scout was in attendance, he would surely have been impressed by Dembele, who now has five goals and five assists in 18 League One appearances this season.

The Gers aren’t the only side interested in Dembele, though, with Championship club Brentford amongst those also in the race for his signature [Grimsby Live], and it remains to be seen whether or not the club would be prepared to pay a seven-figure fee to get their man in this window.

The Peterborough star isn’t the only tricky attacker Rangers are currently interested in, though, with a 23-year-old also on the club’s radar.
