Ian Wright lauds four Arsenal players from solid Newcastle win

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has lauded the efforts of four players after the Gunners’ 3-0 win over Newcastle on Monday night.

Two goals from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang either side of a Bukayo Saka strike secured the victory at the Emirates Stadium as Arsenal continue to climb the Premier League table.

All three goals came in the second half after a quiet first period as the Gunners roared into life following the break.

And former Highbury striker Wright was full of praise for Emile Smith-Rowe at full-time, who set up Aubameyang for his third.

Right-back Cedric Soares and midfield duo Thomas Partey and Saka also drew the plaudits from Wright.

Ian Wright heaped praise on young playmaker Emile Smith-Rowe

“He’s somebody they have had high hopes for,” Wright told Premier League Productions. “He’s had a couple of injuries and gone out on loan a couple of times. They know what he’s capable of.

“When you look at him in the academy and the first team, apart from Ozil, they are not many players who play in that hole like he does. On the half-turn, with a lot more energy and pace than anybody else. Maybe even Ozil when he’s in there.

Cedric Soares also impressed Wright during Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Newcastle

“He’s all over the place. He’s got a lovely touch – since he has come in now with the injuries and his loan. He has realised that this is where I am meant to be. I am ready. He has taken [his chance], at the moment.

“When you are playing against an Arsenal side, in the current form, with the energy of Saka and Smith-Rowe.
