Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says the club will only extend Niklas Sule’s contract if they can ‘find a solution’ to their financial difficulty following the Covid pandemic.
Sule has just under 18 months left on his contract at Bayern and has been linked with a move to Chelsea as Thomas Tuchel plans to purchase a commanding centre back in the summer transfer window.

‘Corona (Covid-19 pandemic) has also caused financial damage to FC Bayern.
‘If we find a solution, we are happy to extend the contract, but that will only be possible under certain conditions.’

Sule – whose contract at Bayern expires in 2022 – has made 24 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring two goals.
The Germany international has been one of the names linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as Tuchel is keen to bring about a defensive overhaul in the summer transfer window after joining the club last month following the sacking of Frank Lampard.

Should Sule pursue a move to the Premier League, Chelsea could acquire his signature for as a little as £33million.
