West Ham ‘prepared to suffer huge transfer loss on £36m top earner Felipe

West Ham ‘prepared to suffer another huge transfer loss on £36m, £100,000-per-week Felipe Anderson this summer’… just six months after taking a £25m hit on flop forward Sebastien Haller

  • Felipe Anderson joined West Ham from Serie A side Lazio for £36m in 2018
  • He fell out of favour under David Moyes and joined Porto on loan last summer
  • But the 27-year-old has made just one start for the Portuguese side this term
  • Anderson is West Ham’s top earner on a deal of £100,000-per-week at the club

West Ham are readying themselves for another enormous financial loss on top earner Felipe Anderson in the summer – according to reports – just six months after taking a hit on flop forward Sebastien Haller.

Anderson joined the Hammers in a £36million deal from Lazio in 2018 but, having fallen out of favour under David Moyes, the Brazilian sealed a loan move to Porto last summer.

The 27-year-old has made just one league start and four top-flight appearances in total for the Portuguese giants this season, all but dashing hopes of a permanent transfer.

However, The Sun claim that Hammers boss Moyes has made it abundantly clear that Anderson does not feature in his plans going forward, meaning the club are now bracing themselves for another financial loss.

The report adds the Scot does not believe the playmaker – who still has one year left on his unrivalled £100,000-per-week deal at the London Stadium – has the necessary work ethic to play under him.

However, it appears it is now the club’s unenviable job to find a buyer for their highest-paid player in the upcoming transfer window.

The news comes just a few months after West Ham swallowed a £25m loss with £40m record signing Haller, who joined Ajax in January after a miserable 18 months in east London, during which he scored just 14 goals for the club.

However, the same outlet adds Moyes could well get his way with Anderson too due to the enormous credit he retains among the West Ham board following the success of additions such as Tomas Soucek, Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma.

The former Manchester United and Everton boss is also reportedly keen to keep Manchester United loanee Jesse Lingard beyond the end of the season.

Meanwhile, Craig Dawson is three Premier League starts away from clinching a permanent move to West Ham.

Defender Dawson joined on loan from Watford in October, with the deal including a clause which will see his move automatically become a £2m full-time switch once he is included in…
