TOP STORY: Man United set to move for Rudiger
Rudiger, 28, reportedly wants around £220,000-a-week to stay at Stamford Bridge, with the club’s £140,000-a-week offer to renew last August reportedly upsetting the Germany international.
Real Madrid, Barcelona and Bayern Munich have all been linked with Rudiger, but Man United could now enter the race, according to Marca, as their interim manager Ralf Rangnick has a “good relationship” with the star’s agent Sehr Senesie.
United signed Raphael Varane from Real Madrid for £41 million in the summer to partner club captain Harry Maguire in central defence, so Rudiger would have a fight on his hands to make the first XI if he were to move.
22.00 GMT: Renato Sanches has halted negotiations with Lille regarding a contract renewal, according to Ekrem Konur. The Portugal midfielder has received interest from the likes of Arsenal and Barcelona in recent months, and with a contract expiring in July 2023, this development is sure to attract even more suitors.
21.43 GMT: The LA Galaxy are in pursuit of Brazil international midfielder Douglas Costa, a source confirmed to ESPN’s Jeff Carlisle and Gustavo Berton. Costa, 31, had been on loan at Gremio from Italian giants Juventus, but following Gremio’s relegation to Serie B last month, the club is facing a significant cut to its finances and Costa is close to terminating his loan. 21.27 GMT: Newcastle United are preparing to offer Atalanta €40m for the transfer of Colombia striker Duvan Zapata, according to Nicolo Schira. The Magpies are hoping to sign the 30-year-old on loan with an obligation to make that deal permanent, but the Serie A outfit are said to want an immediate permanent move.
